It is with immense pride that we share a remarkable story from the early days of the Clayton Youth Rugby Club, a testament to the character and drive our program aims to foster. One of the founding members of our very first high school rugby team was Larry Williams, a young man who carried the spirit of our club all the way to the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Larry's journey at West Point was exceptional. He not only earned a place on their esteemed rugby team but also distinguished himself through his leadership and athletic prowess. In his senior year, Larry was named team captain. Under his guidance, the West Point team achieved the ultimate goal: they won the national championship.
Larry's personal accolades didn't stop there. He was honored with the prestigious Scholz Award, widely considered the "Heisman Trophy" of college rugby, recognizing him as the top male collegiate rugby player in the country. This award is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and outstanding performance on the field.
The incredible story of that championship-winning team, their season, and Larry's inspiring leadership has been captured in a powerful new documentary. We are thrilled to announce that this film will be released into theaters on November 7th.
This is a story of a local kid who started his rugby journey right here in Clayton, North Carolina, and went on to achieve greatness on a national stage. We encourage all members of the Clayton Youth Rugby Club to see this documentary, not just to witness a great sports story, but to be inspired by the heights one of our own has reached. Larry Williams is a true role model for all our young athletes, demonstrating that with dedication and passion, any dream is achievable.

Founded in 2012, the Clayton Youth Rugby Club is a non-profit youth rugby organization with boys and girls ranging from 5-18. The age groups are U10, U12, U14, JV and Varsity.
Our number goal is and always has been to get more players on the field.
Clayton is one of the largest and fastest growing youth programs in the Southeast and rugby is the fastest growing sport in the USA.
We practice at Clayton Civitan and play our home matches at Corinth High School. Our main season is in the spring and sign ups start in September.

Teams & Cost
Teams & Cost
There are three high school seasons, Fall 7's, Single School and Club. The Single School league consists of the teams that are made up of players from one school. The 7's and Club teams can have players from any high school.
Fall 7's starts in September and ends in October. The Single School season starts in December and ends in March. The Club season starts in March and ends in May.
If a player wants to play in all three seasons you only have to pay once.

Register Online Now for the 2024-25 Season. Registration never closes. Any player is welcome to come out to practice and try it out before you register. For more information check the Teams Page

All of our registration is through USA Rugby and before you can register, all players and coaches have to create their own USA Rugby profile in Rugby Xplorer. It doesn’t cost anything to create your profile.

You may see “You don't have a Rugby ID,” not to worry as once you enter more details the system will be able to pair you with your imported profile

MAKE SURE that USAR National is selected and not Rugby Australia
If you see “We have found some profiles that might be you!” Please select your profile and click continue.
You will be redirected to the Rugby Xplorer profile homepage
